With the NEET 2017 exam just couple of days away, students are preparing for the same feverishly. TN politicians are still demanding NEET to be exempted for TN, the self styled leaders of the NO-NEET-FOR-TN backers are crying hoarse and questioning the wisdom of everybody involved.
Leaving aside that, it is important to have a look at the real thing that matters – the expected cut-off marks for the All India quota and also for the Tamil Nadu state quota.
For seats through AIQ (All India quota), last year cut-off is 468 for open category. This year, because of the increase in seats through AIQ , the cut-off might slightly come down. The AIQ cut-off for NEET 2017 might be in the range of 445-450 for the open category .
Since this is the first time NEET is being held in Tamil Nadu for the state quota of 85%, it is difficult to judge the cut-off marks. Based on observing the other states state quota marks and cut-off, for TN the cut-off should be in the range of 420-430.
But as mentioned earlier, being the first time and also because of the lack of adequate preparation by the state board students, the cut off might go down in the range of 380 – 400 too.
So, for the TN state quota of 85%, the cut-off on the higher side might be around 420 and on the lower side it might be around 380.
Please understand that the cut-off for the AIQ and state quota is primarily for the Govt colleges. For the private colleges and the deemed universities, the cut-off will vary and will be difficult to arrive at. As long as one is qualified in NEET, the candidate can seek admission in any of the private medical colleges or the deemed university.
Last year, the eligibility/qualifying mark of NEET is 145. This year it may slightly come down to around 140 or so or will be in the range of 135 to 140. So anybody getting above the qualifying mark will be eligible to pursue the MBBS degree.
So , In Summary
|Type||NEET 2016||NEET 2017 expected|
|TN State quota Cut-off||-NA-||380-400 (or) 420-430|
